HELLOW!
okay, this is for vicki. it's blog about food today. :D As planned, I made creme brulee and chocolate-dipped strawberries. HOWEVER, I was so damn screwed up during practical just now. Made the creme brulee 1st, as it takes a long time to chill. I did okay 'til then, until i started doing the strawberries while waiting for the brulee to chill. Started things of with making the citrus sugar, then chocolate. Chef asked me to melt the chocolate in the microwave, in a plastic container. We don't have microwave in our kitchen, so we used the school's cafe, which is just in front of our kitchen. 1st attempt : Heated it for 1 minute, checked the chocolate, still frozen solid Heated it for another 1 minute, checked the chocolate, still frozen solid I was a little bit too anxious, SO, I heat it for 6 minutes at one shot After 6 minutes, I came out and I could smell something's burning, There was smoke of course, but not much enough to ring the smoke alarm. I kept walking to the microwave, and I finally saw the source of the smoke. I was like HOLY FUCK! DID THE MICROWAVE EXPLODED?! I ran towards the microwave and opened the door. The fucking container's base was melted and the chocolate was like a charcoal by then. Luckily, my teacher arrived not long after that. He threw the container outside, put aside the microwave disk and opened all the doors to ventilate the room. 2nd attempt : heated the chocolate in a new plastic container for 1 minute. Heated it for the 2 minute and checked it, still frozen solid. Kept doing the same thing until after the 4th time, the container's base was already bulging, I supposed it could no longer bare the heat, so I went back and showed it to my teacher. Chef : It's burnt, you see in the middle.... Me : FUCK, u serious chef? Chef : Yeah, try again, it's a shit chocolate though, I'll accompany u now, to make sure u won't burn the whole place down this time 3rd attempt then I finally made it near to the desired state. However, even though it's melted, and I followed the recipe step by step. The strawberries looked like small lumps of shit. =( Soon after that, the time given was up, and everyone who cooked entree and main course had to serve their meals. There were different type of foods. Few type of curries made by the indians, There were prata breads, sweet rice and curry puffs as well. But in here, they call it differently. Sweet and sour porks made by chinese people. Soto ayam, by Francisca. The foods were amazing. After that we proceeded to theory. We did some filing as it's already the end of term 1. Then we went down to the kitchen to get our desserts. There were raspberry cheese cake, tiramisu, my creme brulee and shit-like-strawberries and one coconut cake. I got to try glazing the creme brulee with caramel, with a broiler, a fancier version of bunsen burner. It was really fun. :] ARGH! TOMORROW IS THE LAST DAY OF TERM 1! WHY MUST THE TIME FLY SO FAST!? cheese cake that's all for today. Bubye~ |
